There was a Joseph Fanning living in Kilmore Victoria Australia in 1906. He was from Co Tipperary.

The article below from the Kilmore Free press states that he inherited a farm near Thurles from his brother and was to go back there in three months time.

I had a look in the Irish census for 1911 for Tipperary and could see no Joseph Fanning.

So If anyone knows anything about this Joseph Fanning please let me know.

He was living in the Kilmore area in Feb 1905 as he had his watch stolen!

In 1907 his name was on a list of voters being objected to probably because they were no longer rate payers which indicates he was no longer a resident. Unless he returned to Ireland and died some time between 1907 and 1911.

I can’t find any death records for him. Curious to know if he is connected to my family.

  1. Hello again,
I’m still having a problem on ancestry about that Laughlin Fanning 1698, father to John Fanning born 1737 in Virginia. It comes coming up on the hints as Laughlin fanning!. You said their is no record of him. My Fanning line starts with my grandmother who was Margaret Gretchen Fanning, born 05/22/1913 to Joseph fanning, born 1865 and Margaret Ann Kelly born 1870. It keeps going right I might say, but then I hit a snag and come up with that Laughlin Fanning. All my ancestors came from Ireland and England. I’ve been searching the internet at various web sites, and they have a Laughlin Fanning 1698. Could this possibly be his middle name? Also a Thomas Amis Fanning born 1636 married to a Francis Ellis who was born in 1665,and I believe they had Thomas born 1660.Was Francis his stepmother? she would be 5 years old if she wasn’t. Some of these websites list different names and dates, and are confusing the hell out of me!!!
