Catherine was the daughter of William Fannin and Hanera Cormack or Macormack. She would have been born and raised at Lissaroon.<\/p>\n

Her siblings that I know of were: Michael who married Catherine Ryan and took over the farm at Lissaroon, Patrick who married Margaret Cantwell and farmed at Lisdonowley, William “Billy” who lived at Clondoty and was married to Catherine Fogarty and\u00a0Mary who was married to Thomas Evaston of Clonomocogue.<\/p>\n

Catherine\u00a0Morrissey nee Fanning was married to Daniel Morrissey in Drom Parish on 22 Feb 1838. The witnesses at their wedding were Thomas Cormack and Catherine Fanning. Her address was given as Lissaroon.<\/p>\n

Tipperary Family History Research found records of eight children all born in the parish of Loughmore or Loughmoe in Co Tipperary.<\/p>\n

Bridget Morrissey was baptised on 17 Mar 1841 and her sponsors were Patrick and Sally Fanning.<\/p>\n

Judy (Johanna) Morrissey was baptised on 21 May 1843 and sponsored by Michael and Judy Fanning. She married Michael Burke in Loughmore Parish in 1861.<\/p>\n

Honora Morrissey was baptised on 26 Dec 1844. Her family address is given as Kill. Her godparents were Edmund Fogarty and Mary Fanning.<\/p>\n

Their next child, Mary was baptised on 28 Dec 1846. The address listed is Kill. Sponsors were William and Johanna Fanning.<\/p>\n

Catherine Morrissey was baptised on 17 April 1849. Address is Kill and Catherine MacGrath was the only sponsor.<\/p>\n

The baptismal date for Margaret Morrissey was 11 June 1851 and the address was Kill. She was sponsored by Tom Fanning and Margaret Eviston.<\/p>\n

Daniel Morrissey was baptised on 8 Aug 1853. His sponsors were Patrick Eagan and Judy Ryan.\u00a0The home address was Kill.<\/p>\n

William Morrissey was baptised on 22 March 1856. James Morrissey and Catherine Fanning were sponsors. Catherine died shortly after giving birth to her last child William.<\/p>\n

I looked to see if I could find any marriage records for Daniel after Catherine died. He was left with a baby and a number of young children. In this situation the father often remarried fairly quickly. I couldn’t find any evidence of a second marriage.<\/p>\n

Daniel Morrissey was baptised in Loughmore Parish on the 28th of August 1800. His parents were James Morrissey and Johanna Maher. His godparents were David Doyle and Margaret Fogarty.<\/p>\n

His father James is in the Tithe Applotment Books for Kill in 1827.<\/p>\n

On Dec 9 1845 Daniel Morrissy of Kill was listed on the Rate for the Relief of the Poor of Thurles Union for Loughmore West. Comparing this list with Griffiths Valuation it seems that Kill was an abbreviation used for the townland of Kilkillahara.<\/p>\n

Daniel is also listed in The Poor Law Rate Books for Kill from 1845-1849.<\/p>\n

In Griffiths Valuation Daniel Morrissey (spelled Morrissy) is listed as living in Kilkillahara in West Loughmore.:<\/p>\n

I have been unable to find any marriages or death records for Daniel or any of his children. I suspect that the girls emigrated.<\/p>\n

Just found the marriage of Judy to Michael Burke. They had one child John Burke.<\/p>\n

There are also no Morrisseys listed in the townland of Kilkillahara in Loughmore West in the 1901 Census.<\/p>\n

Catherine Morrissey nee Fanning was born about 1817 in Co Tipperary Ireland. She died in 1856 and is buried in Ballycahill Cemetery Co Tipperary.
